Energy Solutions – set for its second year in delivering a direct response to the Energy Union

April 2016, Energy Solutions was launched as a direct response to the ambition of realizing the Energy Union. April 2017, one year later that direct response is formalized with the inauguration of official roles on the Advisory Board to Energy Solutions.

The Advisory Board has an important role in advising on integrated energy solutions for the realization of the Energy Union – representing interests across the energy system including 3M, Aurubis, Danfoss, DONG Energy, EDF, Eon, GE, Grundfos, ista, Microsoft, Panasonic, PKA, Rockwool, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Statoil, Velux and Vestas.

Siemens and Velux were inaugurated for a one-year term with the possibility for reelection once to Co-Chair the Advisory Board. The Advisory Board is summoned to advise on managerial matters on the agenda in driving the parliamentary network:

The Network on Energy Solutions is a great initiative to exchange views with policy makers on how to make most of Europe’s Clean Energy Package. Cutting through the noise and focusing on what really matters is essential to manage the complexity of the legislative package and to make the Network a lasting success.

– says Senior Policy Advisor at Siemens, Benedikt Herges, who is supported by Head of VELUX’s EU representative office, Jernej Vernik:

Energy Solutions works to ensure a sustainable future for Europe, and the initiative is perfectly in tune with VELUX’s core values of providing sustainable, energy-efficient solutions, while creating healthy, comfortable indoor environments. We believe that a holistic approach is key – integrating all value chains, from energy producer through to final consumer – and this is what Energy Solutions is all about.

To Energy Solutions President, MEP and Vice Chair of the ITRE Committee, Morten Helveg Petersen, key industry representatives are crucial in designing future energy legislation of the EU – and so pleased to see the further engagement on the board:

The industry is key in delivering that direct response to the ambition of the Energy Union – and the expected tsunami of legislative proposals in realizing the ambition is hitting us right now! At the Parliament we have an important task in steering policy proposals towards policy acts that mirror integrated energy solutions across national, sectorial and partial interests. Energy Solutions is on its one year birthday known as the sounding board – and that sounding board is now further strengthened with the inauguration of Co-Chairs, Siemens and Velux. I truly look forward to continuing the good collaboration!, says Morten Helveg Petersen.

Energy Solutions has already commenced its second year of engaging key energy solutions makers and creators in the dialogue on holistic policy-development – January with Mr. Šefčovič, March with Mrs. Vestager and April with Mr. Ristori in Brussels.
