MEP Morten Helveg Petersen in the Panel at the launch of Energy Solutions on April 6th 2016

Energy Solutions was established at the onset of the tsunami of legislative acts in realizing a European Energy Union. President to Energy Solutions Mr. Helveg Petersen is today shortlisted for bringing together policymakers and stakeholders across national, sectorial and individual interests as a direct response to the European Energy Union.

Since the launch of the interdisciplinary network back in April 2016, President Mr. Helveg Petersen has chaired managerial board meetings, technical work stream meetings, and high-level plenaries with participation ranging from key policymakers from the European Commission, members of the European Parliament (MEPs), to industry representatives.

Mr. Helveg Petersen was originally nominated by first-movers from the industry including 3M, Danfoss, DONG Energy, EoN, GE, Grundfos,  Microsoft, Panasonic, Rockwool, Schneider Electric, VELUX, Vestas – a list that just recently expanded with additional voices.

Mr. Helveg Petersen’s work has been characterized by an outstanding contribution to the main objectives of the common EU energy policy: Demonstrating strong and through understanding of close interaction between energy, climate (and consequently decarbonisation  goals) and economic growth aspects, Mr. Helveg Petersen initiated a solution-oriented approach by pooling major European industrial players and solution providers across the energy value chain to demonstrate Europe’s technological capabilities to provide solutions for the transformation towards a low-carbon society in a cost-effective way. Energy Solutions bring together policymakers and multinational companies to join forces by discussing and integrating energy solutions of the future in areas of energy markets, smart metering, energy efficiency, ICT, renewable energy sources, heating and cooling, smart and healthy buildings etc. with the one single objective: To achieve EU’s energy and climate goals for 2050.

Energy Solutions has a busy year ahead in educating policymakers along the policymaking process from policy proposals to actual policies acts. Energy Solutions looks forward to soon inviting you for the annual plenary planned in the realm of the State of the Energy Union, November 2017. In the meantime you can follow the work on www.enersolutions.eu and @Energy Solutions EU.
